I am Gillian Burfield

WELCOME TO MY MAGICAL WORLD

I paint in the language of magical abstract realism, where the seen and unseen meet.  My work is inspired by the quiet enchantment of the natural world – a bird’s flight, a flower in bloom, or the glow of light through the trees can hold a sense of presence beyond the ordinary.  Animals, plants and symbols become guides, carrying stories of renewal, strength and wonder.  Through colour, texture, and dreamlike imagery, I seek to create spaces where magic lingers, inviting the viewer to pause, to feel, and to remember the deeper connections that thread us to the world around us.

I see painting as an act of listening as much as creating – a way of honouring the small wonders that often go unnoticed, and of weaving them into images that feel timeless and sacred.  In each work I hope to offer not just a scene, but a moment of connection: a reminder that magic lingers, waiting for us in the play of light, in the hum of wings, and in the stillness of the natural world.

My hope is that when you leave my world of magic your spirit is lighter and that you have renewed your own personal connection with the natural world and that you are encouraged to follow your own dreams.
